At the end of July 2022, Bishop Buenaventura Famadico announced his plan to hold pastoral visits to all the parishes under the Diocese of San Pablo. The Pastoral Visit is an official duty of a bishop as shepherd of the diocese, in accordance with Canon Law 396 §1. It is an opportunity for the bishop to check on the status of each parochial community and hear the sentiments of people representing various facets of the community.
During the pastoral visit, the bishop would hold an audience with several groups of people: the Parish Pastoral Council, the Parish Finance Council, the youth, church and convent personnel, the parochial vicar, and the parish priest. Each group would be given time to speak with the bishop in the spirit of synodality, which the whole Church has been practicing since the previous year. During the Clergy Meeting held on Monday, August 15, the Bishop expressed his desire that all parishioners participate actively in the said visit, even asking parish priests to convince their parishioners to make time for the event.
Prior to the actual pastoral visit, a team composed of the Chancellor and other diocesan officials will be going to parishes to check on the official documents needed to be prepared and accomplished. The visit would begin on September in the Vicariate of San Pedro Apostol, followed by other vicariates in Ecclesiastical Districts 1, 4, 2, and 3.
Pope Francis promulgates the text of the Apostolic Constitution 'Praedicate Evangelium', which gives a more missionary structure to the Roman Curia so it can be better at the service of the local churches and the task of evangelization.
